Law of Attraction and Destiny
The more you observe life, the more you start understanding that the truth is always found in the “grey” areas, rather than in a black and white form of thinking. Different teachings pertaining to the “law of attraction” have been around for a long time, and movies like “The Secret” created a form of mass […]

Dear Sen,
I can sense relief from readers as well as myself after reading this post.
The biggest shift for me, before reading this post has been moving from a mindset of predetermined destiny to being the deliberate creator of my life. But this also brought with it the realization that all creation lies with me and it acted as sort of a burden that I am responsible for everything that happens in my life.
Elsewhere in some post/comment you had mentioned that –> even life does not know whats going to happen next and that our reality keeps changing with our thoughts. I am having some confusion which I hope, dear sen, you will help clear.
ALL consciousnesses BEFORE they takes a physical form : Is each ones ultimate purpose is to reach a balance/wholeness in their life time? Or not necessarily?
Another question is : I would like to cite an example for this query: If life has handed a blue print for a soul in the form of a design of a small house(just for understanding sake). At some point of life’s journey is it possible to change that into a big Villa or a Castle? – As per my understanding I cannot change the design to something totally different. However I can choose the color of the house, fill it up with different comforts etc for the sake of experience. But then, is it atleast possible to add another floor to the house or build an additional room? This can be done as a part of deliberate creation or requirement of growth?
Somewhere in my journey If I have a desire to alter the original plan into a castle.. Since it is not intentioned to be a castle, it cannot be done. But instead of me becoming worked up/dissapointed /angry/imbalanced(that life did not allow me to convert it into a castle) I can alter my experience by coming to a state of wholeness/balance/stability where the fact that I cannot convert it into a castle does not matter as much and I continue to experience growth in the state of a small house?
I hope you understand my question. Many thanks Sen.
Ahlan, as a soul it’s “required” that you go through a variety of experiences so that your outlook, awareness and maturity can become well-rounded. Every soul is bound to go through a whole variety/range of experiences, no-one is stuck with just one experience – so no-one is stuck having the experience of poverty through all life-times, and no-one is going to experience being “popular” in all life-times. You may not remember all the details of your past-experiences, in your current lifetime, but your awareness/maturity is impacted by those past experiences. When you understand that every experience has its value in shaping your maturity/awareness, you are no longer stuck with the narrow thinking that you “need” to have xyz experience in order to feel “complete” – the brain mostly just thinking in a narrow way, and so you can’t just depend on its conclusions or perspectives. If you’ve experience one side of life in one lifetime, you will get to experience the other side of the same reality in another life-time, so that your awareness can have the opportunity to see both sides and understand that every reality has its own challenges, its light and dark.
To me, this whole mindset of making a big deal about manifesting stuff seems to be rooted in the thinking of – “If I can have xyz experience it would be perfect, and then I can feel fulfilled”, first of all there is no such thing as “total fulfillment” because that would be a static state, and in life there are no static states, life is always going to be a movement and this involves “change” including the change in you state of fulfillment (feeling unfulfilled is as much as part of living as having the experience of temporary fulfillment, just like how you can have the experience of satiation when you’ve had a full meal but within a few hours you start feeling hungry again – it’s just a part of living, the satiation is the light nature and the emptiness is the dark nature, and life is a constant interplay of both). From an absolute perspective, there are no “superior” experiences, there are just “different” experiences, that each have a value towards growth or enjoyment or both. Being born in a mansion and driving a ferrari is just one experience, which gives a certain outlook and flavor of life, the same soul can have the experience of acute poverty in the next lifetime from the perspective of gaining maturity. In that sense, as a soul, your realities don’t just stem from your need for joy but they are stem from the “requirement” of growth – a lot of these “law of attraction” literature just seem to focus on the joy aspect alone without ever giving a perspective on the growth aspect which is just as integral for a soul.
Your experiences are subject to your level of awareness as a soul, as your awareness keeps growing (through the experiences that you go through) you also keep letting go of certain experiences. For example, a low-awareness soul is bound to go through realities involving imbalanced experiences, at some point, and these experience will eventually cause the growth in awareness (like sensitivity, understanding and maturity), and thus cause a movement towards higher awareness and thus towards balance. Once you reach this higher awareness induced balance you no longer need to go through imbalanced experiences (because you are no longer a match to it), and you will see yourself choosing/attracting/aligning-with balanced realities or you could choose to be the instigator of balance (like a teacher or a leader) in imbalanced realities, to assist other beings. Basically, as you keep evolving as a soul the realities you work with, and experience, also keep changing. This doesn’t mean that an evolved soul is the one who gets the castle and the low-awareness soul gets to be born in a slum in Africa – it’s not so black and white, sometimes it could well be the other way round where the evolved soul makes the choice to work in a downtrodden community. As you evolve as a soul your thinking is not rooted in the narrow confines of just focusing on enjoyment (in fact, enjoyment may not even be a huge motivation at some point, and working with a sense of responsibility might take over a stronger motivation).
As for the question of – “is one’s ultimate purpose to reach balance in a lifetime”, basically it’s not about “purpose” it’s about “nature”. Our inherent nature has the aspect of “growth” (growth is not a purpose, the need for growth is just our inherent nature). And it’s our inherent nature to evolve in every lifetime in some way, evolve towards higher awareness, evolve towards balanced mindset, evolve towards making conscious choices, evolve towards learning certain skills (like leadership) etc, the growth is endless because there is always something that one can grow towards (finding balance is not some end-point after which you can hang up your socks and drink cocktail, it’s just one aspect of growth for a soul).
Dearest Sen,
This chapter has fascinated me a lot. I keep reading it over and each time I come to a new realization. This along with the earlier chapter “Overcoming Fear through Understanding Reality” have gone a long way to helping me in my progress.
It also helps in understanding sudden turn of events in ones life OR natural disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis..). Maybe its natures way of balancing the energy/force of earth?
Could you please explain what you meant by “Of course, one can contend that even personal thinking can be driven by the momentum of destiny,” Do you mean the way we think sometimes, can also be because we intended to do so before we came into physical form?
I cant measure the magnitude of change you are creating in so many of our lives and I thank you for that.
Ahlan, yeah, for ex, some desires that arise in our minds are just part of the destiny. A question can be – “how do you know which desires are part of the destiny”, the answer would be that you can’t know for sure, it’s just that you need to connect with yourself and get a sense of which desires feel truly aligned with you and which desires are being carried froth from a place of “I should have this because society says so” or some other limiting thinking or deluded thinking. Also, it’s true that the desires that are not really aligned with you are difficult to manifest because you don’t get the support of the collective energy or your life-stream and even if you manage to ‘force manifest’ them they are very unstable and get dissolved soon.
That was interesting but very depressing to read. The notion of having your live events chosen for you before you come here and not being able to have the things you want or be subjected to a life of difficult happenings because it was your destiny and there’s nothing you can’t do about it is very sad and it makes life feel like punishment. So when you want a certain good thing in your life and it doesn’t come is it because you are no allowed to have it and you have to go through bad things instead? I don’t understand how people can believe in destiny and not want to kill themselves, it’s too punitive and negative.
Dot, it depends on the way you interpret it – you seem to have come to the conclusion/assumption that just because there are certain aspects structure/destiny to your physical life that they have to be “bad or negative”. When you build a house the first thing you do is create a certain blue-print, a skeletal structure, which is then used as the base to then construct the house with all the “adornments” that you desire – the skeletal structure, or blue-print, is not punitive, rather it’s just a platform upon which you tend apply your “creativity”. The blue-print/destiny is not a rigid script which tells you how you will live day by day, it’s just a general structure over which your life can then be journeyed upon – doesn’t everything require a general plan before the details can be worked upon? In the absence of this general structure there would just be chaos – you can’t leave everything to absolute randomness, there has to be a balance between structure and randomness. The destiny provides such a structure while you have the freedom to create several random/creative realities within this structure based on how you choose to live your life. The structure/destiny is not “bad or good” by itself, it’s just a structure, how you work within it decides your experience of it – your attitude is not controlled by destiny, it’s your choice.
Sen,
Can anything be done to find out the blueprint, so that life is less confusing?
Thanks.
Hi Sen,
Thanks for all your articles. Is there anyway to know a blue print? Not that I am restless but knowing would be very helpful to do away with false desires.
